The kids have been quite sweet at school this week. I think we’ve all been generally happier since a lot of them actually are making progress! Yay!

Some of them are really behind though. This photo was taken after school when we were giving them extra tuition.

Mama was catering a wedding send off last night, so I was helping with that.
Here is the goat being cooked!!!

I wrote a blog on Thursday but there was a power cut just as I was about to post it!I managed to post it just now, so it’s down there! V
This weekend I went to Usangi in the Pare Mountains, and went on a Hippo Safari at Lake Gipe. It borders Kenya, so I can sort of say I’ve been to Kenya now :). Ha.
Here is a photo of a man climbing a coconut tree!

These are the boats we were in on the lake. We were in our own boats, with a boatman. I asked if any of them could swim, they can’t.

Some hippos :)

I wrote this on thursday but we had a power cut just as I was about to send it! Luckily it saved, so I will be posting two today :)

I’m half way through my trip already! Been here for seven weeks, home in seven weeks. Where on Earth is the time going!
This week has been good. We took a class picture on Tuesday. We didn’t want to miss our chance since everyone was in school!
Here is Lily and I with our class, pre-unit. We have 23 in the class.

These are our twins in the class, Lilian and Elizabeth! No prize for guessing which one is which from where they’re standing!

We had the class write their names on paper bags and decorate them. When Lily leaves in two weeks, they will be given their bags with a few things in.

Tomorrow we’re going to Usangi until Monday. We’re looking forward to our long weekend :).

Tarangire was awesooooome! So many animals!
Here are some photos J :
Some lions having sex…

Mummy and baby elephant, awh…

Some pissed off elephants…
One of them trumpeted at us as they were walking away. To be fair, we were blocking their way to the water for about 5/10 minutes. We wanted them to walk past us! We kept driving off as and coming back, hah…

Some cheetahs just chilling out…

Yesterday I went to visit Malaika orphanage. It’s so nice! They have a play house, swings, hanging hoops, a slide, loads of stuff to play with!
Here are a couple of photos.

Going to Impala again for dinner tonight.
TARANGIRE TOMORROW!! :D

I went to Kioga on Sunday. It was soooo good!
We went to this waterfall, and even climbed up the rocks to stand underneath it. It was really cool.
It was quite a long walk though. It’s down in a valley so we had to get down the mountain, and then climb back up again! Along with walking to and from the mountain, and to and from the waterfall once we we’re at the bottom. It was really nice though. We walked along the river that comes from the waterfall.
Here is a picture of the river we were walking along. At the front is Ariane, then Lily. They are volunteers. Then behind are the Tanzanian guides. The one is beige is called Johanas, he works with Mondo Challenge, and he arranged the day for us. The one is red was someone else’s guide, we all ended up together.

This is Charlotte, and I, standing in front of the waterfall.

This one is of me, Charlotte and Lily. We climbed up the rocks to stand underneath/behind the waterfall. You could sort of work out where we are from the picture before. ^

Going to Tarangerie National Park on Saturday for a two day safari :). I’m so excited!!

We didn’t go to Khan’s (the BBQ place) on Tuesday in the end. We ended up having Indian at the Impala Hotel. Chakula kitamu sana J. (It was delicious!)
I’ve had a good week. The two biggest trouble makers haven’t paid their school fees, so haven’t been in. It’s been peaceful. Well, as peaceful as it can be in a tiny room with twenty 5-6 year olds.
Here is a photo of Agreyson and Mordecai. They had a little photo shoot session! They all love having their photos taken. I will put them all up on facebook when I’m home J.

They also enjoy taking photos with my camera. Innocent took this photo of me, Marietha, Kefas and a bit of Eunice’s head!

This is Innocent! He’s one of my favourites J. (I know I shouldn’t have favourites, but he’s too sweet!!)

The kids were really good today J. This week has gone really fast too, craaaazy fast. Where is the time going! Ahhhh!

I must be missing work a lot. I’ve actually had a dream that I was teaching at SJA! Hahah. How sad is that?! (Rhetorical question)
Mama has taught me how to make chapattis :), it’s pretty hard work! You wouldn’t think it takes so long. She said I’ve got to make them all myself next time! We’ll see how that goes…

I haven’t taken any photos this week so afraid I have nothing interesting to show you!
Some baby chickens at school had a fight last week though. They were in the air hitting each other with their wings. Hahah. I didn’t manage to get a photo of them in the air, but here they are squaring up to each other!

When I first arrived these chicks had literally just hatched, so I’ve seen them grow up. How sweet!
Going for a BBQ dinner tonight. One of the other volunteers is leaving.

Baadaye! … That means ‘later’ J

Mr Amos (who runs Fareson) son, Mordacai, was one on Wednesday! Lily and I had lunch at the children’s centre, cooked by Amos’ wife. I brought Fanta’s for the family, and three orphans who live with them, and one of the teachers, Neema, who also had lunch with us. This was a rare treat for the children, so they were very happy!
After lunch some of the school children came back, and we sang happy birthday to Mordacai, and all the children had biscuits.
Here is a photo of Mary, Mordacai’s sister, at the front. Behind her are Halima, Marietha and Oliva, who also live at the Children’s Centre.

This is Mordacai! In his birthday hat. He even gave us a little smile :).
